Childcare worker Chris Avery received the 2007 Metropolitan Ambulance Service Community Hero award. Five-year-old Zachariah Attard was impaled by a hook that went through his eyebrow after a fall. Ms Avery rushed to the child’s aid, holding him still till the ambulance arrive so he wouldn’t move and worsen the injury.
